Saizon

I had no clue what Saizon was until a few weeks ago at a friend’s birthday party there; as I’m told, Saizon is supposed to be one of the hottest things in Fresno right now. Saizon is a high end Mexican-American restaurant, so Saizon is definitely not cheap in price, but surprisingly, the prices aren’t all up-there in the sky, especially with how high quality the food is. What stands out much are the oysters, which can be served grilled (quite useful for people that hate raw oysters), or raw. I’ve never tried oysters raw before, but the way Saizon does it makes it much more appetizing than you’d expect, as the oysters are well seasoned and plump (as opposed to having a runny, mucous like texture that people may ascribe to raw oysters). A fantastic way to sample their seafood (crab, ceviche, shrimp, and oysters) is the large tower. For $90 you get 12 oysters ($36), 2 choices of ceviche ($40ish), and dungeness crab ($36), with 6 pieces of shrimp being the bonus you get for the tower. Sadly I forgot to snap a picture of this fantastic tower, but there’s plenty of online pics to scour Saizon’s menu items.
