Fresno Discovery Center is rooted in generosity. Funds were donated to the City of Fresno by Frank Reedy to purchase 5 1/2 acres, previously owned by the Roessler family, to create a green space or city park for the “children of Fresno.” This area was named Reedy Park in honor of Frank Reedy’s generous gift. Reedy Park and The Fresno Jr. Museum of Science and Natural History were established in 1954 and the museum received nonprofit status on 1 July 1968. The Center includes a relatively large park, and a cactus garden. The Park is 5 1/2 acres of grassy meadow, tortoise habitat, cactus garden and includes several picnic tables, restrooms, and many green areas for families to enjoy.

The Deutsch Cactus Garden is an extraordinary garden filled with over 250 different types of cactus and succulents. The garden has lived at The Fresno Discovery Center in Fresno, California since 1995, where it has been satisfying the needs of cactus aficionados, to curious children looking to explore the world of cactus and succulents ever since. Enjoy a walk down the trail to witness this marvelous world of exotic desert plants.
