I have many memories of the Manchester Mall in Fresno, so when it was announced years ago it was going to be renovated, I was excited. Sadly Covid-19 put a significant hold on that, and Manchester to this day is pretty damn vacant, like as if walking in an abandoned building. Nevertheless, the renovation has managed to be mostly complete in a small portion of the mall. Being able to experience this new section directly from the old, drab portions really helped me to understand just how beautiful the mall could be. From old, wood and beige colors to a refreshing white coloration of modern, art deco, and brutalist architecture. I don’t know if the refresh will ever be finished, but Fresno is planning something else for Manchester too.
